Somatomy is a training.
Full-bodied presence is the diploma.

Somatomy is a word that came to me while snowshoeing one day in the woods. I had been formulating a series of advanced workshops at the request of my producers and returning students. I knew that at the core, I would be teaching the pathway to presence within our bodies, and combining that with the practice of gently and effortlessly orchestrating our attention with ease and flow. This is the essence of a loving connection with oneself, and the key to maintaining a high level of healthy vitality, even into your senior years – all things people have seen in me, and asked to teach them how to achieve.

Somatomy – sensing and connecting to yourself through your anatomy. Living in your anatomy as an integrated being. Body-Mind-Heart-Soul in sync.

The one pre-requisite is a willingness to feel your personal reality from the perspective of your body’s intelligence.  We sense, feel and respond from the community of integrated systems within our body as we move through the world. This includes our overall energy, breathing, gravity and the ground-force reaction that starts in our feet : along with,  the pulsation of the fluids that flow through our organs, our blood stream, our cerebral-spinal fluid, our digestion and our elimination systems. So why not meet them all, one by one, and befriend them?

Alexander Lowen said that the ‘body’s spirituality’ is “to feel a force that is greater than the conscious self.” And we can experience this through our body’s own remarkable and miraculous moment-to-moment activities.

The training is made up of three 5-day workshops. We will ask questions like: ‘How do my breathing patterns shape the fluid pulsation and the energy in my body?’ We will explore, learn and practice how to follow the path of action of any of our specific or general movements while connecting fully to our proprioceptive sensing. We will bring our awareness to listening for the stresses around us and in us, as we go through our day, and become curious as to which of our mind’s stories are shaping our bodies and our presence. And we will wonder together:
